Giorgio Armani dead at 91

by Deanna Macaranas

ICONIC Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani died at the age of 91 on Thursday.

On an Instagram post, the Armani team reached out with their condolences on the death of the Italian designer.

“Il Signor Armani, as he was always respectfully and admiringly called by employees and collaborators, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.” Wrote the Armani team.

“Indefatigable to the end, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections, and the many ongoing and future projects.”

Known for its revolutionary fashion style that refined the definition of “power suit” by mixing Italian style with elegance in the mid-70s, Armani became a well-known brand due to its unlined jackets and relaxed silhouettes.

The brand later grew in popularity amongst businessmen on Wall Street as well as in Hollywood.

Due to being unwell for some time, Armani was forced to drop out of his group’s shows at Milan’s Fashion Week last June—the very first time he missed one of his catwalk events.
