P-POP “Female Alphas” G22 is nominated for the 37th Awit Awards with their song “Loka.”
The Awit Awards’ official Facebook page released the approved entries for the 37th Awit Awards last July 1st. The group’s “Loka” from the movie “Shake, Rattle, and Roll Extreme”’s official soundtrack has been nominated under two categories: Best Performance by a Group and Best Original Soundtrack Recording.
“The creative process of the song is more on the emotional attachment to it…”, AJ, G22 member and co-writer of “Loka,” stated in an exclusive interview with Arambulo Live.
As stated in an article from RepublicAsia, the upbeat single speaks about fighting one’s inner demons. It expresses an internal struggle of growing conscious due to the judgment of others, leading to getting drunk from thinking too much about how they may perceive or think about you.
Albeit the smooth flow of the lyrics, the writing process was anything but, with AJ stuck and unsure of what to write. It was when she sought advice, told to write with no boundaries, no rules, and just be herself, that was she able to write “Loka”.
Bullets, the official fandom name of G22, on X express their excitement for the group’s nomination. The user @haerimcart says, “’LOKA’ got two nominations for awit awards, my musika, my G22 look how far you’ve come 🥹 so proud of you three !!!…”.
Moreover, G22 fans are delighted that “Loka” and G22 are receiving the recognition they deserve, the phrase “G22 FOR AWIT AWARDS” trending on X where Bullets shower the group with praise and congratulations.
G22 has performed “Loka” live on ASAP, UP fair 2024, and in events for ACER and VinFast.
Awit Awards is a prestigious award-giving body that recognizes Filipino performing artists and producers managed by The Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc.
G22 is a three-member Filipino girl group, AJ, Alfea, and Jaz, under Cornerstone Entertainment. The group debuted in 2022 with the single “BANG!” and recently released their newest single “I Hate Boys.”
