JAPANESE actor Fumiya Takahashi has a new role to portray: Shin Asakura of “Sakamoto Days.”

His participation in the live-action film adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series “Sakamoto Days” was revealed in a new 30-second teaser, posted on the Official Toho Movie YouTube channel.

It featured Takahashi with blonde hair engaging in a gun fight with his opponents from the criminal underworld.

The actor also shared a poster of his character on Instagram, showing him in a blue hoodie and white pants, while pointing a gun.

Takahashi joins Ren Meguro in the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of “Sakamoto Days.”

Takahashi’s Shin is a former hitman who becomes an employee at a convenience store owned by Meguro’s Taro Sakamoto, a retired top hitman. Shin also possesses the ability to read minds.

The live-action film adaptation was first announced in September through a 30-second teaser, featuring Meguro’s Taro in his legendary hitman era. The clip ended with a first look at Taro as a store owner catching a bullet using chopsticks, and his convenience store.

Directed by Yuichi Fukuda, the live-action version of “Sakamoto Days” is scheduled for release in theaters in 2026.

Takahasi starred in Japanese films “Our Secret Diary” and “Teasing Master Takagi-san,” while Meguro was the lead role in the live-action film adaptation of “My Happy Marriage.”

About ‘Sakamoto Days’

Written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki, “Sakamoto Days” follows Taro, who was once a feared hitman in the criminal world. He falls in love with Aoi, a convenience store clerk, but for him to date her, he must not kill anymore. Taro retires and marries Aoi, with whom he has a daughter named Hana.

Just when he finally settles into his peaceful life, Taro is once again haunted by his past, leading him to meet Shin and his other store employees: Lu Xiaotang, an orphaned daughter of a crime boss, and sniper Heisuke Mashimo. Taro must protect his family from the criminal world with the help of his employees while upholding Aoi’s “no-kill” policy.

The manga series was adapted into an anime television series, which is available to stream on Netflix.
