From playlist to screen: ‘Spotify Tatak Pinoy Live’ allows fans vote, see their fave OPM artists on TV

by Joanna Deala

SOMETIMES, listening to our favorite local artist from our playlist is not enough; we want them to perform live.

This is why Spotify is launching “Spotify Tatak Pinoy Live,” a fan-powered show that allows fans to vote for their favorite Original Pinoy Music (OPM) artist and see them perform live on television.

Built on the “Tatak Pinoy” playlist on the digital music service, “Spotify Tatak Pinoy Live” aims to further promote Filipino music by allowing audiences to discover and celebrate local tracks, artists, and genres, and giving them the power to decide which OPM artist will headline the show each month.

“Filipino fans have always been at the heart of how local music is discovered and shared,” Kossy Ng, Head of Music for Spotify Asia, said in a press statement.

“At Spotify, we’ve seen how streaming has evolved from a medium for passive listening to a platform for rallying behind artists. Spotify Tatak Pinoy Live builds on that passion to give fans a more active role in shaping the moments that celebrate Filipino artistry,” she added.

The new show will debut on “Vibe,” the newest music countdown show that allows the audience to vote for the top OPM song. It premiered on TV5 in August.

First ‘Tatak Pinoy Live’ nominees

Three OPM artists and their songs have been selected to kick off “Spotify Tatak Pinoy Live.” They are Pop-alternative rock band Over October with “Dahan,” rock band “Dilaw” with “BLACK N’ WHITE,” and pop artist Arthur Miguel with “Sulyap.”

Formed in 2014, Over October consists of Josh Buizon, Joric Canlas, Janessa Geronimo, Josh Lua, and Anton Rodriguez. The band is known for their songs “Ikot,” “Kaakit-akit,” “Ating Dalawa,” and “Intertwine (feat. The Ridleys),” among others. Over October has so far released three singles this year, including “Dahan,” which talks about slow-burn romance between two friends.

Dilaw is a six-piece indie-alternative band composed of Vie Dela Rosa, Dilaw Obero, Leon Karlos Altomonte, En Altomonte, Tobi Samson, and Wayne Dela Rosa. They are behind the viral song “Uhaw (Tayong Lahat),” which has now over 235 million streams on Spotify. Dilaw made a music comeback in September with their debut full-length album “RARARA,” featuring “BLACK N’ WHITE.”

From covering songs on YouTube, Arthur Miguel has been building his name in the local music scene, releasing his debut album “Pasahili” in 2022. He is widely recognized through his 2023 hit song “Lihim,” which charted at no. 23 on the Billboard Philippines Songs list. “Sulyap” is his latest 2025 single, following “Pagitan” and “PDKL.”
