ACTRESS and content creator Kristel Fulgar and her South Korean boyfriend Ha Su Hyuk began their journey to forever!
The couple capped off Love Month with their engagement announcement through a vlog, titled “Forever starts now,” uploaded by Kristel on Friday, February 28.
The 25-minute clip showed Su Hyuk’s detailed marriage proposal to the social media star, from planning the engagement ring he would buy to decorating a rooftop with balloons and flowers and finally asking Kristel’s hand for marriage. All of this was made possible with the help of Kristel’s best friend, who flew from Manila to South Korea.
Su Hyuk shared that the idea of marrying Kristel came to mind in the first quarter of 2024 when he opened up about his past to the “Goin’ Bulilit” star.
“I had a very hard life when I was younger. She encouraged me, and respects me. My life was very hard. My personality is not bad. I tried to improve my life. After sharing that story, I decided that I wanted to marry her,” he said.
The proposal, attended by the couple’s family and friends, started with Su Hyuk serenading Kristel as soon as she stepped foot on the rooftop. He sang “Sudden Shower” from the hit Korean drama “Lovely Runner,” while holding Kristel’s hand.
“If it weren’t because of you, I wouldn’t know how I would live. You will be my last love, and I’m very sure that you will be the only one that I want to love forever,” Su Hyuk told Kristel.
“I want to have a happy family with you, with tita, I want to live happily,” he continued.
The engaged couple then shared a kiss and hug, with Suhyuk promising Kristel to love and protect her forever.
Su Hyuk is Kristel’s first boyfriend.
‘Off to the next chapter’
On Instagram, Kristel shared a few snaps from the marriage proposal, including a close-up photo of her engagement ring.
“Off to the next chapter of my life,” the 30-year-old actress wrote.
Filipino netizens and celebrities—including Original Pinoy Music (OPM) singer Yeng Constantino and “Pinoy Big Brother” alumna Lou Yanong—congratulated the couple on their engagement.
Kristel went public with her relationship with Su Hyuk in November 2024, after the latter became a member of Kristel’s church, Iglesia ni Cristo (INC). Kristel first introduced Su Hyuk as her suitor in a vlog in February 2024.
In an interview with GMA Network, the Filipina actress said they were introduced to each other by a common friend. After a friendly date, the two instantly clicked and began meeting regularly.
A big fan of Korean culture, Kristel moved to South Korea to study. In 2023, she was recognized as the Influencer of the Month and the Global Creator of the Year.
