Fans speculate Deadpool appearance in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ following Ryan Reynolds’ post

by Joanna Deala

RYAN Reynolds has kept Marvel fans guessing about his possible appearance as Deadpool in the forthcoming superhero film “Avengers: Doomsday,” after sharing a cryptic post on Instagram.

On Tuesday, Reynolds posted a graffitied Avengers logo using red paint, but he did not provide any caption on his post.

This sparked speculations among viewers about his possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), joining the Earth’s mightiest heroes.

“If you are saying what I think you’re saying, I’m actually gonna scream,” one netizen commented on Reynold’s Instagram post.

“Pity tell me that it is a sign,” another Instagram user said.

Reynolds last appeared as Deadpool in “Deadpool & Wolverine” in 2024, alongside Hugh Jackman, who portrayed Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine.

Several netizens pointed out that Reynold’s post was similar to the graffiti version of the Avengers logo on a flag seen in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Marvel Studios revealed the star-studded “Avengers: Doomsday” cast in March, which include returning characters Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Sang-Chi, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

Several Marvel characters were notably missing in the cast announcement, including Reynolds, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, among others.

The cast list might not be final yet, as Marvel Studios previously hinted that “there’s always room for more.”

About ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, “Avengers: Doomsday” will feature a wide array of Marvel characters, including some familiar faces from the previous Marvel films like Letitia Wright as Shuri or the new Black Panther, the main cast of “Thunderbolts*,” and the First Family.

But what fans are definitely looking forward to in the film is Robert Downey Jr.’s appearance, not as Tony Stark, or Iron Man, he was known for in the previous Marvel films, but as the supervillain named Doctor Doom.

“Avengers: Doomsday” was initially scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, but it was pushed back to December 18, 2026.

“Avengers: Secret Wars,” also helmed by the Russo brothers, has also been moved from May 7, 2027 to December 17, 2027.
