THE future of Filipino fashion continues to shine brighter at Style Conquest 2024, held at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati last June 30.
The groundbreaking fashion runway showcased the spectacular works of established and emerging designers, with show-stopping appearances by popular P-pop groups.
Divided into a two-act show, the first part of the event kicked off, flaunting the collections of some of the best fashion visionaries in the country to set the stage for inspiration.
P-pop groups VXON, G22, AJAA, and Yes My Love (YML) and VIVA artist Rabin Angeles donned the masterpieces of designers Edrick Paz, Emanuel Riñoza, Kein Dumlao, Basil Malicsi, and Nash August.
The event also featured the impressive collections of Paul Matt, JM Rosario, and Camille Besacruz, showing the breadth of Filipino fashion craftsmanship.
Stars of the night
At nightfall, the stage turned into a fantastic array of fresh fashion collections from six promising designers at the second part of the event.
iAcademy Fashion Design graduates Joanna Marie Santos, Jannah Collado, Abby Fernandez, Ellyn Denubo, Megan Davies, and Elena Mariano made their runway debut, each with a distinct and breathtaking collection.
Santos’s “ADORACION” is a tribute to her grandmother. The avant-garde collection demonstrated the stages of grief to express the complexities of emotions associated with loss.
Meanwhile, Collado showcased a grunge punk collection with “Astor,” inspired by a fear of lightning and thunderstorms called astraphobia.
Fernandez, on the other hand, incorporated the vibrant atmosphere of Japanese arcades in “Mabi’s Arcade,” while Denubo’s “PERYA-SERYE” was inspired by the lively vibes of a perya.
Davies’s “THE INNER CHILD” was somewhat personal, showcasing her creative take on childhood traumas.
Lastly, Mariano made a bold move with her “Blissful Awakening” collection that centered on dreamy feelings from self-pleasure, celebrating female sexual expression.
Style Conquest is a fashion event highlighting the works of emerging designers from different backgrounds. This year’s theme, “weaving stories through fashion,” presents diverse collections telling a unique story.
The event will return in October to feature another set of promising designers, according to R PR and Productions.
