THE Intramuros Administration (IA) is celebrating the National Nutrition Month this July with a free guided tour at Fort Santiago on Friday, July 11.
The 2025 National Nutrition Month celebration has officially kicked off with the theme, “Sa PPAN: Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!”
On Facebook, the IA said interested individuals may avail of the free guided tour by donating any healthy food item, such as bread, fruits, and vegetables.
These donations will be given to communities within Intramuros and nearby areas, the agency added.
“It’s the perfect time to rediscover our heritage, relearn our history, and reflect on the meaning of freedom—right where it all happened,” the IA said.
The free guided tour will be available at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. on Friday.
It will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with each batch accommodating 20 individuals only. Participants should register at the Intramuros Visitors Center inside Fort Santiago.
While the tour is free, interested individuals will still need to pay the admission fee. The entrance to Fort Santiago costs P75 for adults and P50 for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Promoting healthy diets
For the 51st celebration of the National Nutrition Month, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) introduced a sub-theme, “Food at Nutrition Security Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!” highlighting a key pillar of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).
The council said the sub-theme emphasizes the importance of healthy diets as “a pillar of nutrition security.”
It also highlights that access to nutritious food is not a privilege of a few, but a fundamental human right of every Filipino for their health and well-being. The NNC stressed that providing healthy food for Filipinos should be a priority in national and local development agendas.
Pursuant to Presidential Decree 491, Nutrition Month is celebrated every July to promote awareness of the importance of nutrition among Filipinos. The NNC is mandated to coordinate and lead the month-long campaign.
