FILIPINO talents are set to shine in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, with internationally acclaimed actress Dolly De Leon and renowned stage actor Jon Jon Briones joining the cast for Seasons 2 and 3.
The announcement came Tuesday night (PHT) through the series’ official social media accounts.
“Welcome the new faces joining the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender in Seasons 2 and 3,” the post read, featuring photos of De Leon and Briones alongside the names of their respective characters.
De Leon is set to portray two characters—Princess Azula’s elderly advisers who guide her training. Briones, meanwhile, will take on the role of Master Piandao, a former Fire Army member regarded as the greatest swordmaster in its history.
Also joining the growing roster of Filipino actors is Lourdes Faberes, who is set to play General Sung, an Earth Kingdom officer.
A Filipino presence in the series is nothing new. Avatar: The Last Airbender is led by Gordon Cormier, a Filipino-Canadian actor who plays the titular role of Aang.
De Leon, Briones, and Faberes are among several new additions to the cast for the upcoming seasons. Joining them are Madison Hu as Fei, Dichen Lachman as Yangchen, Lili Gao as Ursa, Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, and Tantoo Cardinal as Hama.
Originally released in 2005, Avatar: The Last Airbender is an Emmy-winning animated series from Nickelodeon that gained a massive global following.
It follows Aang, the last surviving Airbender and Avatar, who must master all four elements—air, water, earth, and fire—to bring peace to a world in conflict.
Netflix’s live-action adaptation premiered its first season in 2024, reimagining the beloved series with a fresh cast, high production values, and a more mature tone. The show was renewed for Seasons 2 and 3 shortly after its debut.
