THE Manila run of the award-winning musical “Dear Evan Hansen” has been extended, with a new closing date set for Oct. 5, according to a statement released by GMG Productions on Wednesday, July 2.
Originally set to conclude on September 28, the show will run for an additional week at The Theater at Solaire in Parañaque City, following strong ticket sales and an overwhelming audience response.
“Bringing Dear Evan Hansen to Manila has been a long-awaited moment, and the response has been everything we hoped for and more. We’re happy to announce this final extension so even more audiences can experience the impact of this production,” said GMG Productions CEO, Carlos Candal.
The Manila leg features the UK touring production, with music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Steven Levenson.
“Dear Evan Hansen” tells the story of Evan, a socially anxious high school student who finds himself caught in a misunderstanding that spirals into something far bigger than he imagined.
As he navigates his new reality, Evan is faced with a moral crossroads: tell the truth and risk everything, or embrace a lie that gives him the connection he’s always longed for.
Since its Broadway debut in 2016, the musical has earned multiple accolades, including four Tony Awards (Best Musical), a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
