Cup of Joe celebrates 7th anniversary with new song ‘Sandali’

by Joanna Deala

ALTERNATIVE pop band Cup of Joe is back with another heart-tugging song to mark their seventh anniversary.

The chart-topping act released a new single, “Sandali,” on Wednesday, September 10, written by its five members Gian Bernardino, Raphaell Ridao, CJ Fernandez, Gabriel Fernandez, and Xen Gareza and produced by Shadiel Chan and Jovel Rivera.

Cup of Joe dedicated the song to “everyone who’s been with us all these years,” according to their Instagram post.

“Sandali” seems to highlight the deep connection between individuals and assurance to support one another whatever happens.

A part of the lyrics goes: “Kahit pa ang mundo ay gumuho / At ang kalangitan ay mahulog / ‘Di man alam ang gagawin / Sa’yo pa rin, sa’yo pa rin.”

The newly-released track is particularly surprising for the fans as it features the singing voices of other band members.

On X (formerly Twitter), Gareza said this was his “first time” to lend his voice to a Cup of Joe song.

Meanwhile, many fans were delighted to hear the quintet’s vocals and suggested they should do it more in their forthcoming tracks.

“Finally, ‘di na cover songs from you huhuhu, so proud of you Xen!” a fan replied to the keyboardist.

“More to come please ganda kaya ng boses niyo,” another netizen said.

On his broadcast channel on Instagram, Ridao described “Sandali” as a song that “means a lot” to Cup of Joe.

“We’re opening our hearts to you guys so thank you for being with us through the years,” the vocalist said.

Bernardino, on the other hand, thanked their Joewahs who inspire him and the band to write more songs.

“Sandali” has garnered over 100,000 streams on music streaming platform Spotify in less than 12 hours since its release, according to the band’s Instagram post.

The new track comes before Cup of Joe holds their three-day “Stardust” concert, from October 10 to 12,  at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The band held a two-night solo concert at the same event in February, in support of their debut album, “Silakbo,” which navigates the five stages of grief.
