BTS’ Jin announces second solo album ‘Echo’ in May

by Joanna Deala

THE second quarter of 2025 has just begun, but Jin of the K-pop boy group BTS already seems to have a busy year ahead of him.

After appearing in a new show on the global streaming platform Netflix, the South Korean singer is gearing up to release his second solo album, “Echo,” on May 16.

BigHit Music, BTS’ record label, announced this on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the album will feature seven tracks that will showcase Jin’s “versatile vocals against a dynamic band sound.”

It said Jin will express “universal life experiences and emotions” through his perspective in “Echo.”

“Through ‘Echo,’ we hope Jin’s heartfelt wish to connect with his fans more frequently resonates with you,” the label added.

Jin, or Kim Seokjin in real life, released his first extended play (EP), “Happy,” in November 2024, months after he completed his mandatory military service in June. The EP has six tracks, including the pre-release single “I’ll Be There” and his collaboration song with Red Velvet’s Wendy, “Heart on the Window.”

Before this, he dropped his first solo single, “The Astronaut,” in October 2022, which he co-wrote with British rock band Coldplay.

New shows

The global superstar is one of the cast members of the Korean variety show “Kian’s Bizarre B&B,” alongside cartoonist and entertainer Kian84 and actress Ji Ye-eun.

Jin plays the role of an employee in an unconventional bed and breakfast (B&B) on Ulleungdo Island in South Korea. The facility is located in the middle of the ocean.

The first three episodes of “Kian’s Bizarre B&B” are now available on Netflix, with new episodes dropping on April 15 and April 22.

Jin also hosts his own variety show, “Run Jin,” on the official BTS YouTube channel.

As of writing, Jin and J-Hope are focusing on their solo activities, as they await their five fellow members—RM, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—to finish their mandatory military service.

J-Hope met Filo ARMY during the Manila leg of his “Hope on the Stage” tour, held from April 12 to 13 at the SM Mall of Asia Area in Pasay City. He is the first BTS member to return to the country since the boy group’s “Wings” tour in 2017.

The BTS members are expected to reunite as a full group this year.
