FIREFLY, which was produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs won the Best Picture award at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival’s the Gabi ng Parangal that was held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
Directed by Zig Dulay, Firefly got the 1st Best Picture Award, followed by “GomBurZa for the 2nd Best Picture and “Mallari” which snatched the 3rd Best Picture.
Cedrick Juan of “GomBurZa” edged out Piolo Pascual, Dingdong Dantes, Christopher De Leon, Alden Richards and Derek Ramsey for the MMFF Best Actor Award.
The Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos, captured the MMFF Best Actress for the movie “When I Met You in Tokyo.”
She won against Sharon Cuneta, Marian Rivera, Eugene Domingo, Pokwang, and Beauty Gonzalez.

Best Production Design: Ericson Navarro (“GomBurZa”)
Best Visual Effects: Gaspar Mangarin (“Mallari”)
Best Original Theme Song: “Finggah Lickin” (“Becky & Badette”)
Best Musical Score: Von De Guzman (“Mallari”)
Best Sound: Melvin O. Rivera and Louie Boy Bauson (“GomBurZa”)
Best Child Performer: Euwenn Mikaell Aleta (“Firefly”)
