BINI’s ‘Pantropiko’-inspired crochet dolls

by RepublicAsia

THE POPULARITY of the girl group BINI has continuously risen to such an extent that a craft artist has begun creating impressive pieces of art inspired by them.

In a viral Facebook post, craft artist Jocas Arabella Cruz from Bocaue, Bulacan, showed the doll version of eight members of the girl group. Each doll wears outfits inspired by the clothes worn by the members on their “Pantropiko” performance video, which has now garnered over 41M views on Youtube alone.

The dolls were an order placed by an avid BINI fan, and Cruz needed to watch the “Pantropiko” music video on Youtube for reference. He was able to complete the dolls in a span of four days using his materials: milk cotton yarns, crochet hook, scissors and fabric glue.

Cruz has since become a BINI fan, saying “Gusto ko rin po talaga gawan ng dolls ang BINI dahil sa uniqueness po nila at kanilang magagandang outfit po,” as reported by ABS-CBN News.

The girl group’s rising popularity with Generation Z is no surprise as they are not only known for their fun and empowering lyrics, but also for the ideal image they present for today’s younger generations.

For instance, BINI’s tagline, “Walo hanggang dulo” or “Eight until the end” is an evidence of their solidarity as a group. Most fans’ frequent comment, for instance, is “Congrats, Walo!!!”

As written on Star Magic’s website, “BINI, which is short for the Filipino word ‘binibini’ (a young lady), represents the modern Filipina… sweet and sassy, informed and aware.” Like their empowering songs, the girl group’s fans called “Blooms” are likewise empowered.

Are you an avid fan of the OPM girl group, too? Keep updated as they surely will achieve more.
