THE Avatarverse lives on!
Nickelodeon has just dropped the first glimpse at Avatar: Seven Havens, the long-awaited sequel to the classic The Avatar: Last Airbender.
It was revealed as part of Avatar’s 20th anniversary at San Diego Comic Con on Thursday and was posted by Nickelodeon and Avatar’s official accounts on their Instagram.
“This upcoming 2D-animated series from Avatar Studios, which follows a young Earthbender who discovers she is the next Avatar,” they captioned.
Set in a post-cataclysmic world, Avatar: Seven Havens introduces viewers to a new Avatar—an Earthbender who learns she is next in line after Korra.
Unlike her predecessors, she is feared as a potential threat rather than a hero.
Alongside her estranged twin, she sets out on a journey to uncover the truth about their past and protect what remains of the world’s final sanctuaries, all while being pursued by enemies from both the spirit and human realms.
The animated series is just one of several upcoming expansions to the Avatar universe. A new animated feature film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Avatar, is set to premiere in theaters on October 9, 2026.
The film stars Eric Nam as Aang, Jessica Matten as Katara, Roman Zaragoza as Sokka, Dionne Quan as Toph, with Steven Yeun and Dave Bautista portraying a yet-to-be-revealed antagonist.
This marks yet another chapter in the enduring legacy of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which first aired in 2005 and quickly became a global phenomenon.
The Last Airbender was hailed not just for its masterful animation and worldbuilding, but also for tackling themes like war, identity, and redemption— earning it a Peabody Award in 2009, multiple Annie Awards, and even a Primetime Emmy nomination.
Its sequel, The Legend of Korra, also left its mark, winning several Annie awards, IGN People’s Choice Awards, and a Daytime Emmy for casting.
With Seven Havens, Nickelodeon aims to carry forward the franchise’s legacy — one that continues to resonate with both longtime fans and a new generation of viewers.
