Astronomer CEO resigns after viral Coldplay incident

by Deanna Macaranas

AMERICAN tech company Astronomer CEO Andy Byron resigned last Saturday after a video of him cuddling a colleague at a Coldplay concert resurfaced on the internet.

In the video, Bryon, along with Astronomer HR-chief Kristin Cabot, was caught canoodling on Coldplay’s kiss cam last July 16.

Once the camera pans on them with their faces being flashed on screen, the two immediately separate themselves from each other.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin later joked about them, “either having an affair or just really being shy.”

With the video resurfacing on the internet, memes began being made and shared among netizens, making fun of the said situation.

Following the situation, the Astronomer had released a statement on LinkedIn regarding the resignation of the CEO.

“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.” The statement read.

“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”

Following the viral kiss cam incident that revealed the not-so-discreet affair of Astronomer’s CEO, Coldplay’s Chris Martin began jokingly warning the audience about being on camera.

“How we’re gonna do that is we’re gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen,” Chris Martin said.

“So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now,” he added.
