Ariana Grande to drop new single on Friday

by Joanna Deala

ARIANATORS, or fans of Ariana Grande, are a step closer to getting a glimpse of the pop star’s forthcoming album.

The 30-year-old singer-songwriter will be marking her return to the music scene with the release of her new song, “yes, and?” on January 12, Friday.

Grande announced this in an Instagram post on Sunday, along with a blurry, close-up photo of her face. She looked stunning in red lipstick.

The two-time Grammy winner tagged photographer Katia Temkin, producer Ilya Salmanzadeh, and record label Republic Records in the photo.

Republic Records shared the same photo, which seems to be the song’s cover art, on Instagram and said, “We’re so excited.”

This came more than a week after the singer teased her new music this year when she uploaded a carousel of pictures and videos on Instagram on December 27, including snaps of her at a recording studio.

Fans and several artists including Nicki Minaj have expressed their excitement for Grande’s new song.

“Queen. We are ready,” the renowned rapper wrote in the comments section.

The forthcoming album, which Arianators coined as “AG7,” will be Grande’s seventh release following “Positions” in 2020.

“yes, and?” can now be pre-saved on digital music platforms Spotify and Apple Music.

Easter eggs

Prior to the announcement, fans speculated that the “7 Rings” singer’s new music would be titled “yes, and?”

This theory is rooted in a photo of Grande, taken by celebrity photographer Miles Diggs, where she was seen wearing a sweatshirt with embroidered words at the center that read: “yes, and?”

Grande’s mom Joan fueled rumors when she liked the photo shared by a fan on X (formerly Twitter).

Fans also believed that the red lips could be related to the new song. Some of them noticed that a red kiss mark appeared when typing “7” into the Apple emoji search bar.

Ilya and producer Max Martin were seen using the kiss mark emoji.
