POP star Ariana Grande has decided to leave the management of Scooter Braun, several US media outlets reported. 

TMZ cited several sources as saying Grande is leaving Braun and his management company, HYBE. The two had worked together for several years. 

Grande is the latest celebrity reported to have left Braun, after Idina Menzel and Demi Lovato.  Entertainment Tonight quoted a source as saying that the departure of Braun’s talents were expected as “they have felt undervalued and underappreciated and like Scooter hasn’t been present since the HYBE deal.”

Braun had been on the board of HYBE, a South Korean entertainment company, since 2021. Earlier this year, he became the CEO of Hybe America. 

US media reports said Menzel departed Braun’s roster in January, while Lovato reportedly left in July. 

Ariana’s ties with Scooter 

Braun first met Grande 2009 on Broadway Musical “13” where she was part of the cast. In early 2013, he helped Grande establish her career as a pop singer. A year later, he became her manager.  

In  2016, Grande fired Braun, but she rehired him several months later. 

Who is Scooter Braun? 

Aside from managing big name celebrities in the US, Braun has become known as the nemesis of pop superstar Taylor Swift. 

Braun and Swift’s feud started when Braun bought Big Machine Records, where Swift recorded her first six albums. This gave him ownership of the masters of these albums.

Swift had said that she tried to purchase her masters, but was given unreasonable conditions and was thus unable to acquire the recordings. 

She also lamented the decision to sell her master’s to Braun, saying she experienced “incessant, manipulative bullying” at his hands. 

Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta refuted Swift’s claims.

This issue led to Swift eventually deciding to re-record her earlier music.
