LAST October 5th, singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo held her concert at the Philippine Arena, wherein thousands of Filipinos were in attendance.
One person in attendance was popular Filipino actress Andrea Brillantes, who recently posted to her Instagram story photos of herself and friends enjoying Rodrigo’s concert.
Many netizens however started attacking Brillantes, claiming that she got “VIP treatment” in getting tickets for Rodrigo’s concert. This is after Brillantes posted a story saying that she was the first one to line up in the lane of her queue number.
People also speculated that she received special treatment because she allegedly had physical tickets to the show even though they weren’t available until September 28.
This discussion grew particularly heated given the thousands of people that either queued online for online tickets or camped out for the physical ones, just to be told that they were already sold out.
Andrea explains
Brillantes quickly explained that this was not true, and she did not get any VIP treatment.
On her Instagram story, she wrote: “I just realized I worded that poorly, and it came off as me bragging about my spot. But y’all got it wrong. What I meant to say was, sa aga ko pumila kaninang umaga, I ended up first in line in my queue number lane. Kaya ako lang tao nandun because I lined up very early for it.”
Before this, she also explained that she did not have a physical ticket before the 28th as some believe. All she said was that she was excited about the upcoming tour and that she found it funny that people were asking her for tickets as if she were a reseller.
“I don’t see why it’s necessary to drag my name into this and spread false information,” she said in the comments of one person saying that she’d gotten tickets before the 28th.

Many also gave Brillantes flak because she was assigned to the VIP area, even though the seating for everyone attending Rodrigo’s concert was chosen at random.
