ADAMSON University and Mapua University made their historic debut after earning spots in the 2026 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
They were among the 112 new institutions to be added on the rankings.
Adamson earned a spot in the 1,001-1,200 bracket while Mapua was listed in the 1401+ tier.
“To be included in the QS World Rankings leads us to be more resolved to make Adamson contribute more to global education,” said University President Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM.
“It is a sign that our mission to serve the people at the margins through quality education is relevant beyond our national borders. Vincentian education has tried its best to form mature professionals in competence, character and charity,” he added in his released statement.
The University of the Philippines (UP) retained the highest place among the ranked universities in the Philippines despite slipping from 336 last year to 362 this year.
Meanwhile, second placer Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) recorded the most notable progress, climbing up to 511 from last year’s 516.
This can be attributed to the University’s improvements on QS indicators such as Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Employment Outcomes, and Sustainability.
De La Salle University (DLSU) experienced a minor drop, ranking 654 compared to last year’s 641-650’s bracket while University of Santo Tomas (UST) retained its position in the 851-900 tier.
The QS World University Rankings is a globally recognized system for assessing university performance, and it has gained increasing relevance in the Philippines as local institutions aim for international recognition
For Filipino students and educators, the QS rankings serve as both a benchmark for quality and a tool for positioning the country’s higher education sector on the world stage.
