Fair weather til weekend, good time for early V-Day dates

by Malou Talosig-Bartolome

IT’S Friday once again, the week went by so fast. Good thing it’s generally fair weather in most parts of the country.

For those who want to celebrate Valentine’s Day earlier, tonight and weekend will be just as fine.

Lovers and families in the Davao region and the rest of provinces in eastern Mindanao: it’s probably a good idea to celebrate Valentine’s this weekend. State weather bureau Pagasa said there is a chance that it will rain on Monday due to the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA).

Luzon forecast

The Northeast Monsoon continues to be the prevailing weather system in Luzon.

Bicol Region and Quezon will have cloudy skies with rains. So bring your umbrellas.

Pagasa warned of possible flash floods or landslides in the event of moderate with at times heavy rains.

Southern Palawan may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. But this is not due to the Northeast Monsoon. Rain clouds formed in pockets, creating localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa said severe thunderstorms may bring landslides or flooding.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be generally fair, except for a bit of light rains.

Visayas and Mindanao

Visayas and Mindanao will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Pagasa weather forecaster Patrick del Mundo said they have monitored thunderstorm activity in Zamboanga, Sulu, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi.

Czech weather aggregator Windy said the following areas may experience heavy and moderate rains today:

  • Roxas City, Mambusao, Carles, Batad, Iloilo: Heavy rains around 8am
  • Casiguran, Sorson : Moderate rains around 8am
  • Misibis, Albay: Moderate rains around 8am
  • Hinigaran, Negros Occidental: Moderate rains around 2pm
  • Bataraza, Palawan: Moderate rains around 2pm
  • Pantukan, Davao de Oro: Heavy rains around 2pm
