The European Union in the Philippines will be holding its first ever European fair this weekend, a two-day festival that will showcase the culture and products of its member states.
The Euro Village fair is part of the celebration of Europe Day, which was on May 9. It will allow attendees to experience the diverse culture of European member states through their food, products, lifestyle, tourism, and languages.
The free-for-all, one-stop fair will take place on May 27 to 28, from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., at Capitol Commons Park in Pasig City.
Europe Day is an annual observance that celebrates peace and unity within the continent. It serves as a reminder of the values and principles that underpin the EU and symbolizes the commitment to cooperation and solidarity among its nations.
“In the Philippines, the diversity of European cultures comes to fore with the inauguration of the Euro Village on 27 to 28 May 2023 in Capitol Commons, Pasig,” the European Union in the Philippines wrote in a Facebook post.
The festival aims to highlight the best features of European culture while also promoting and hosting effective dialogues on sustainability, according to the event’s official Facebook page.
During the festival, participating European member states will have the opportunity to share and market their culture and traditions through the products they will be offering.
“Save the date for an exciting fair experience that will immerse you in the diverse EU cultures, from good food, unique products, and beautiful music to sports demonstrations that you’ll be able to try!” the event organizers said.
Attendees will be able to enjoy pastries, pasta, waffles, sausages, dairy products, beer, special concerts, and sports demonstrations from various EU member states.
The EU members that will participate in the Euro Village fair include Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Romania, Finland, and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the EU also partnered with various organizations, including the Goethe Institut, Instituto Cervantes Manila, Alliance Française de Manille, and the Philippine-Italian Association, for its language center, and the Manila String Machine for musical performances during the celebration.
