GMA Exec Gozon-Valdes Visit Marawi for Pay It Forward

by Bryan Gadingan

WITH years of dedication to educational causes, GMA Network Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes took part in the Pay It Forward: A Digital Transformation Advocacy visit to Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

Education has long been at the heart of her advocacy, and her visit to Marawi, a city previously aided by the GMA Kapuso Foundation’s rehabilitation programs, highlights her commitment even more.

“GMA Kapuso Foundation has always had education as one of its main trust. We’re very happy to have helped build some schools here in Marawi, including this school,” the media executive said.

It is worth recalling that in October 2018, the Kapuso Foundation inaugurated four classrooms under its Kapuso Schools’ Rebuild Marawi Project, a year after the siege that left many schools in ruins.

In addition, with the combined support of their partners and donors, they successfully rehabilitated and constructed classrooms, gender-sensitive restrooms, and a washing facility for another school in Marawi.

This latest initiative saw the network collaborating with private sector allies RepublicAsia Media and iACADEMY, and public agencies like the Department of Budget and Management and the Department of Education.

As in earlier phases of the project, Pay It Forward delivered 150 tablets and 3 smart TVs to the same elementary school—an ongoing effort to ensure these students remain seen and supported.

“We hope to continue to support, not only the building of structures, but also providing the students with much-needed technology, and supplies to enhance the education,” Atty. Gozon-Valdes said.

“I hope that magamit niyo ang mga ibibigay namin at lalo itong makatulong sa inxong pag-unlad,” she went on to say.

Atty. Gozon-Valdes’ visit to Marawi further affirms GMA Network’s steadfast dedication to education—not only by improving facilities, but also by equipping students with modern tools to enrich their learning journey.

As the Pay It Forward campaign expands, its purpose remains clear—to ensure every child has a place in the digital future.

With compassion, partnership, and purposeful action, initiatives like this are steadily paving the way for a brighter, more empowered future for Marawi and beyond.
