AFTER an intense Season 2, Euphoria fans await the show’s third season that is expected to premiere in 2025.

However, the production of HBO’s hit teen series has been temporarily put on hold after Euphoria  creator and director Sam Levinson was given more time to work on the script.

The show’s cast have also been allowed to pursue other opportunities. This includes Dune: Part 2 actress Zendaya who played as Rue, and Anyone but You star Sydney Sweeney—who played as Cassie.

In a statement, HBO along with Levinson said they remain committed to making an exceptional third season.

“In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities,” they added.

It was also said that the cast had not been released from their contracts and HBO still intended to launch the show’s third season sometime in 2025.

Euphoria is a dark teen series that follows the lives of high school students as they wrestle with issues such as drugs, sex, and violence.

The show is set in the fictional town of East Highland, California and was based on an Israeli show of the same name.

Upon the show’s release in 2019, Euphoria was named one of HBO’s top-rated series.

Due to its interesting plot and aesthetic, the show garnered multiple awards such as the MTV Movie & TV Awards for best show in 2022.

The show’s latest episode aired in February 2022 with an intense storyline that left a lot of Euphoria fans in shock. Halfway into Euphoria’s Season 2 airing, they also announced that the show was renewed for a third season.

On July 31, 2023, an unfortunate news saddened Euphoria fans as 25-year-old Angus Cloud, who’s known for his role as Fezco, died.

Levison reportedly wanted more time to break the story as there’s been a lot of back and forth now that the story is taking a new turn.

In January 2024, HBO executive Casey Bloys stated that Levinson was in the middle of writing Euphoria’s third season.

The two had not discussed whether it would be the final installment.
