Elijah Canlas, Miles Ocampo call it quits

by Joanna Deala

ELIJAH Canlas revealed the real score between him and Miles Ocampo: they have broken up.

The 23-year-old actor confirmed this in an interview with ABS-CBN News and said that they parted ways “a couple months ago.”

Canlas shared that he and Ocampo went through a rough patch in their relationship as they dealt with their “own personal stuff.” This eventually led to their breakup.

“It’s been hard. So, we’re figuring things out,” he said.

Despite parting ways, Canlas assured that there was no bad blood with the 26-year-old actress and that he would continue supporting her.

“I’m always gonna have love for her and I’m always gonna support her in whatever she does and I’ll always be her number one fan,” he said.

“But right now, we’re just taking our time figuring out ourselves, our lives right now,” he added.

Canlas first revealed in an interview with Ogie Diaz in May 2022 that he and Ocampo were dating. He said that they had been together since 2021, but the two celebrities chose to keep things private. Canlas was Ocampo’s first boyfriend.

Prior to this, fans already speculated about the real deal between the two stars after Canlas greeted Ocampo a happy birthday on Instagram in May and described her as his “favorite person.”

Ocampo then posted a carousel of photos from her birthday celebration, including a silhouette image of her and Canlas in a romantic embrace.

Eagle-eyed netizens also noticed Canlas’ comment on Ocampo’s post where he said, “About to be the best year yet.”

The former couple teamed up in the 2020 romance drama series “Paano ang Pangako,” but the two admitted in an interview with PEP.ph that they did not develop a close relationship when they were filming for the show. In fact, they were not talking with each other at that time, although they had a lot of scenes in the drama together.

It was only after their lock-in taping in Laguna that they began speaking with one another.

The two celebrities had been expressive of their support for one another since publicly confirming their relationship.

Canlas and Ocampo have their respective ongoing projects this year.

The actress is one of the co-hosts of TV5’s noontime variety show “E.A.T.” She recently starred in the 2023 web series “Missed Connections” that debuted on Netflix in June.

Meanwhile, Canlas is part of the teen drama series “Senior High.” He also starred in the 2023 Philippine adaptation of South Korean drama film “Keys to the Heart,” which is now available on Netflix.
