START your engines and buckle up!

There’s a new attraction that all racers and adventurous people must see and experience.

Located at the third level of SM North EDSA in Quezon City, Ekartraceway is the Philippines’ first and only indoor multi-level and all-electric racing facility.

You can experience driving the world’s best BSR (Buzz, Squeak, and Rattle) karts that use electricity instead of gas.

They have different kinds of karts that will fit well with your age group, weight, and height, such as:

  • Junior Karts – for kids who are under 4 feet tall, as long as they reach the controlling pedals of the kart. Although this can also be used by any adult with a height of not more than 5’6″ and a weight of 60 kilograms.
  • Adult Karts – intended for adults that have a minimum height of 5 feet to reach the controlling pedals, while the weight limit is 100 kg.
  • 2 Seater Control Karts – This is best for people who have a valid driver’s license and want to enjoy the ride with a companion. If you have no license, Ekartraceway’s staff is there to assist and join you on the race track. The weight limit for this is 150 kg for both riders.
Ekartraceway has different karts that cater to your age group, weight and height.

Engaging in or enrolling in any motor sports here in the Philippines can be really expensive.

This brought the board of directors of Ekartraceway together to establish this place as a venue where an average Filipino can feel the fun, thrill, and excitement of driving an e-kart on a customized racetrack.

“For the average Pinoys, they can’t afford it so when we got together as a team. We have decided that we want to cater to the 99.9% of Pinoys. Give those people a chance to be able to experience what we have. Now, we did not just open it for the purpose of having a bumper kart. This is more than a bumper kart place. This is a serious, high performance, simulated indoor race track and we placed it in Metro Manila for the purpose of showing (that) you (don’t) have to go to Batangas or Pampanga or Carmona to enjoy this,” said David Hsu, Vice President and Operations Manager of Ekartraceway in an interview with Republic Asia.

Hsu said that they intentionally built the race track to be tough to make it challenging for racers.

If you are an avid fan of F1 racing, you can observe that Ekartraceway’s track is similar to one of the world’s most iconic race tracks, Monte Carlo, which appears to be narrow and very hard to pass through.

Their race track is intentionally-built to be tough and challenging for racers.

“I’ve been a passionate race kart driver all my life and when I come to the Philippines, there’s absolutely nothing here except if you want to travel to our North or to our South, to Batangas or Pampanga, to enjoy something in the motor sport,” said Hsu.

To be able to deliver a quality and memorable experience to all their visitors, Ekartraceway introduced the Pinoy Cup Race Series which happens every last Saturday of the month.

Tsu also said that their karts are designed with safety in mind.

“So that’s what we’re looking for, it’s a family fun center. But there’s also a thing called safe, serious, fun. That’s our motto. First is safety. Our equipment, our barrier, our track is totally designed to be totally safe. We have hundreds and hundreds of incidents already, not one walked out with a band aid, not one. That proved our system worked. For those who are still wondering how safe are we? Come and check it out,” he said.

The karts are also designed with safety features. Racers also have to wear helmet.

Big events can be catered here as well, because they believe that there’s no party that’s too small for them.

Their function hall can accommodate 80-125 people.

“Between myself and the manager, Flory here, we welcome everybody. No matter your background, no matter what age you are, no matter what your experience might be, come and check us out. Because I’m sure once you have experienced our entire environment, you will be happy to come back over and over again, to learn, to practice. One thing we teach is how to respect each other. Number two, what we teach is how to really hone your reflex. Driving is about reflex. Number three, you wanna go fast? We teach you the radio speed to be able to maximize your potential here,” said Hsu as he invited everyone to visit Ekartraceway.

Knowing when to go fast and when to go slow applies not only to driving but also to life. And one way for us to go in a better direction is to go out of our comfort zones and overcome our fears.
