JUST how many positions are up for grab in the coming midterm elections?
Quite plentiful. So here at republicasia, let’s count them as we present #BotoNgKabataan2025, by the numbers.
This coming May 2025, every Filipino, especially today’s youth will come to practice the most basic yet powerful right of almost every living being on the planet – the right to vote.
And with millions of Filipinos set to choose their candidates for next year, just how many positions are up for grabs?
By the numbers
According to the data from the Commission on Elections, there are 18, 280 seats which will be up for grabs in the 2025 National and Local Elections.
From the said number, it will cover 14 posts in 254 legislative districts.
Dividing it further, for the national race, 12 senatorial seats are up for grabs, so are 63 seats for party-list representatives. A total of 254 congressional posts are also up in the air.

Going down further, for the local posts, it will be led by the Governor with 82 positions; Vice Governor (82); Member, Sangguniang Panlalawigan (800); City Mayor (149); City Vice Mayor (149); Member, Sangguniang Panlungsod (1,690); Municipal Mayor (1,493); Municipal Vice Mayor (1,493); Member, Sangguniang Bayan (11,948); BARMM Members of the Parliament (25); BARMM Party Representatives (40).
Meanwhile, a total of 254 legislative districts are also up for elections.
The are National Capital Region (33); Cordillera Administrative Region (7); Region I (12); Region II (12); Region III (24); Region IV-A (31); Region IV-B (8); Region V (16); Region VI (12); Negros Island Region (11); Region VII (14); Region VIII (13); Region IX (11); Region X (14); Region XI (11); Region XII (10); Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (6) and in CARAGA (9).
According to the Comelec, as of Friday, there are 6,250,050 new registered voters.
Of the said number 3,214,403 were female and 3,035,647 were male.
It is quick to note though that Calabarzon has the highest number of new voters, with 1,041,179.
The next was the National Capital Region with 824,239; Central Luzon with 705,530; Davao Region with 356,854; and Central Visayas with 331,033.
The voter registration for the May 2025 #BotoNgKabataan2025 midterm polls started on Feb. 12 and are expected to end on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024.
