NETIZENS were surprised when “It’s Showtime” host Darren Espanto revealed about a past romantic relationship with Kapuso actress Kyline Alcantara.
In an interview for the “Fast Talk” segment with Boy Abunda on Monday, Espanto was asked about Kyline’s trending guest appearance on “It’s Showtime” on April 10. Viewers had noticed the undeniable chemistry between the two.
Abunda wasted no time getting to the point, asking Darren directly, “What is the true story? Sabihin mo sa akin ang totoo, Darren… naging kayo? It’s answerable by yes or no.
“Hindi ko po masagot ng yes or no kasi it was a puppy love kind of thing,” said the Kapamilya singer-actor.
“But there was?” added Abunda, to which Espanto immediately replied, “Opo, before when we were younger.”
Espanto shared that his relationship with Alcantara lasted for one year and a half. Reflecting on the reason for their breakup, he said, “There was misunderstanding, and then when we were both mature, parang six years later napag usapan na namin and eventually we became with each other again, naging friends ulit kami.”
“Misunderstandings talaga kasi syempre kapag mga bata parang [may] konting mga petty na away,” he explained.
It can be recalled that Espanto and Alcantara are acquainted with Legaspi twins, Mavy and Cassy. Darren and Cassy share a close bond while Mavy and Kyline worked together as on-screen partners and even had a past relationship.
