Cup of Joe, Denise Julia, Hev Abi, and more headline the Circus Music Festival

by Joanna Deala

IT has not been a month since the last Circus Music Festival was held, but preparations for the next edition this year is already underway.

The musical event will feature 23 performers from different genres. The list is a mix of rising stars of today’s generation and Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icons and bands.

Among the young performers who will grace the festival are Baguio-based band Cup of Joe, R&B star Denise Julia, and rapper Hev Abi.

Cup of Joe is the band behind the hit songs “Tingin,” “Estranghero,” and “Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin Ko,” which will be featured in the forthcoming movie of the same name starring Julia Barretto and Aga Muhlach

Denise Julia has recently released her latest extended play “Sweet Nothings (Chapter 1),” which includes “B.A.D” and “Lackin’” which netizens have probably been hearing a lot on social media. “B.A.D” even got the attention of K-pop idol Giselle of girl group Aespa.

Hev Abi, on the other hand, has been making his name in the Pinoy hiphop scene with his songs “WELCOME2DTQ” and “Alam Mo Ba Girl.”

The Circus Music Festival will also see performances from other rising acts such as TONEEJAY, Arthur Miguel, Carisa, Acel Bisa, Flow G, Joey G, and Janine Berdin.

These rising talents will be joined on stage by OPM icons including Rico Blanco, Moira, Gloc 9, Ebe Dancel, and Nina.

Big OPM bands like The Itchyworms, December Avenue, Hale, Never The Strangers, Mojofly, SUD, I Belong To The Zoo, Bandang Lapis, and Never The Strangers will also perform at the event.

The fourth edition of the Circus Music Festival will be held on May 4 at the Circuit Makati Open Grounds.

The third edition was held from January 6 to 7, 2024, after it was postponed in September 2023 due to “unforeseen inclement weather conditions and technical difficulties.”
