BTS’ V stars in IU’s comeback single ‘Love Wins’

by Joanna Deala

UAENAS and ARMY are rejoicing on social media for the forthcoming release of the comeback single of South Korean pop star IU.

On X (formerly Twitter), the term “IU x V” earned a spot on the trending list after IU revealed the main poster of her pre-release single “Love Wins.”

The monochrome poster featured IU and V of K-pop powerhouse BTS, sitting on a table as IU films V. The title “Love Wins” is written in pink.

The song is set to be released on January 24, 2024 at 6 p.m. (KST).

IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, previously shared a teaser clip of “Love Wins,” showing a close-up of her left eye dropping a tear as it slowly zooms to her iris to reveal the title and the release date of her new song. A piano instrumental was also playing in the background.

The singer-songwriter also launched her TikTok account where she promoted her forthcoming song.

“Love Wins” marks the return of the singer-actress to the South Korean music scene, two years after her last album “Pieces.”

It was reported in December 2023 that V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, would star in IU’s new music video.

IU is only one of the Korean artists who are returning to the K-pop scene this year.

In a December 2023 vlog, she revealed that she had finished recording a song and that she will spend most of her time abroad this month to wrap up her album.

She said that she wanted to “express new things and many different things” in the album.

IU has also appeared in public with her new look, revealing her pink-blonde hair.

Past BTS collaborations

This is not the first time that IU worked with a BTS member.

Last year, IU and Suga collaborated for the song “People Pt.2,” which was released under the latter’s other moniker Agust D. The track is part of Agust D’s first official solo album “D-DAY.”

This was the second time that they joined forces for a song, following IU’s 2020 single “eight.”

IU had appeared in Suga’s talk show “Suchwita” in December 2023.

It was also last year when Suga guested on IU’s talk show “IU’s Palette.” She had invited V and J-Hope to join her in the show.

All the members of the popular K-pop boy group are currently serving in the military. They hoped to reunite as a group in 2025.
