Are Olivia Rodrigo, Conan Gray, Tate McRae and more coming to PH for concerts?

by Joanna Deala

WHILE several Filipinos hunted eggs for Easter Sunday, fans found clues on yet-to-be-confirmed international concerts in the country through an Easter greeting art card posted by local concert promoter Live Nation.

On its art card posted on social media, Live Nation featured a few eggs with different designs—from solid plain colors, polka dots, to curved lines with dots decoration.

But some eagle-eyed netizens noticed that some designs alluded to several international artists, hinting at their possible concerts in the Philippines.

Fans spotted an egg in the art card that was designed with stars, similar to those in the concert poster of “GUTS World Tour” of Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo.

This was not the first hint about Rodrigo’s possible concert in Manila. In December 2023, The 21-year-old singer told The Hollywood Reporter that she was excited to perform in front of her fans, also known as Livies, for her “GUTS World Tour” and that she couldn’t wait to visit other countries she has never been to such as the Philippines.

Last month, Universal Music Group Philippines posted a clip of Rodrigo where she promoted her new single “obsessed” from her deluxe album “GUTS (spilled).” She said, “What’s up, Philippines! It’s Olivia. I’m so excited to see you soon.”

Netizens also noticed that one egg had a yellow star inside a teardrop, which resembled the cover photo of American singer-songwriter Conan Gray on his social media pages.

There were also eggs that resembled the cover art of the “Think Later” album of Canadian singer Tate McRae and the “Radical Optimism” album of English-Albanian singer Dua Lipa.

Another egg with blue lines could also be found in the upper right part of the art card, which seemed to refer to the blue curtain backdrop in singer Laufey’s forthcoming album “Bewitched: The Goddess Edition.”

Gray, Tate Rae, and Dua Lipa will embark on their own concert tours this year in support of their latest albums “Found Heaven,” “Think Later,” and “Radical Optimism,” respectively.

Gray last performed in Manila in February 2023 for his “Superache Tour,” while Dua Lipa had her first solo concert in the Philippines in 2018.

Laufey, on the other hand, is set to perform with Manila Philharmonic Orchestra at the PICC Plenary Hall in Pasay City for a special concert on May 28.

Fans’ reactions

These Easter eggs elated Filipino fans who were excited to see their idols dominate the Philippine stage.

“I need to see Olivia my girl rage idol,” said one Livie.

“The guts easter egg. She’s definitely coming here I’m gonna lose it,” another Rodrigo fan said.

Meanwhile, a social media user commented, “Kinakabahan ako sa mga gantong easter eggs.”

As of writing, Live Nation has not made any official announcements yet about these speculated international concerts in the country.
