FOR the first time, actor Aljur Abrenica admitted that infidelity on his part played a role in the failure of his marriage to Kylie Padilla. 

He made the statement in his interview with TV host Toni Gonzaga on her Toni Talks vlog, where she asked him about people’s accusations that he had cheated on his estranged wife. 

“Alam mo ba ang iniisip ng mga tao, the reason why your marriage fell apart is because you cheated. Anong reaksyon mo pag yun ang iniisip ng tao, the reason why your marriage fell apart is because ikaw ang may kasalanan, you cheated,” Gonzaga asked. 

Abrenica confirmed that this was the case. 

“Yeah, totoo naman. Totoo naman yun. On my part, oo, inaadmit ko yun, may pagkakamali ako,” he replied.

But he also said his “biggest mistake” during his marriage was that he did not have enough time for his family. 

It can be recalled that back in 2021, the 33-year-old actor posted, and then deleted, a statement on Facebook where he implied that it was not him who cheated first in his marriage. Padilla laughed off his insinuation. 

Amid the infidelity issues, the actor said both he and Padilla had tried to make the marriage work.

“Mahirap siya kasi hindi na talaga mag-wo-work… Ma-realize mo na you have to accept hindi na talaga, kasi ginawa ko na lahat. At siya rin, ginawa niya rin lahat, in fairness naman,” he said. 

Gonzaga then asked Abrenica whose decision it was to walk away, or whether the circumstances forced them to call it quits. 

The actor, nodding his head while the question was being asked, said their separation was “mutual.” 

Not ready for marriage 

The former matinee idol said he was “not prepared” when he and Padilla decided to get married. 

“That time I think I was prepared, pero looking back now, hindi, hindi ako prepared,” he said.  

Armed with a new perspective, Abrenica said he and Padilla are much better off parenting their children apart. 

“Ganun ‘yung sa’min ni Kylie, much better pag hindi kami magkasama pag parenting,” he said. 

Abrenica and Padilla got married in 2018 and separated in 2021. They have two sons: Alas, who is five years old, and Axel, who is three. 

Their split was initially marred by a word war, with both sides pointing fingers about who wrecked the family. 

Separate lives 

Last year, Abrenica said in an interview that he and Padilla were now at peace. 

The two appear to have moved on with their lives.

In January, Padilla was rumored to have gone to Thailand with her new boyfriend. 

Recently, Abrenica went Instagram official with his girlfriend AJ Raval. His relationship with Raval was hounded by rumors that he got her pregnant and that she had given birth to their love child before they admitted their relationship.

Padilla has shut down speculations that Raval was the cause of her separation from Abrenica.
