Alamat Jao’s chaotic hashtag with fans

by RepublicAsia

NORMAL trend? NO!

What started as a normal exchange between an artist and a fan escalated into a trending hashtag on X that went on for three days.

Artists have their own quirky ways of interacting with their beloved fans. And Jao thought it fun to start a hashtag to reach them. However, there were others who were offended by what he did.

The fun ended on April 24, after some people called out Jao for what he did. The Alamat member immediately responded with an apology post on his X account.

The hashtag started after Jao quoted a fan’s post saying they are playing genshin with the Alamat member. Another fan replied to his quoted post asking how he manages to find random tweets with his name.

Jao answered the fan through a quoted reply by saying ego surfing together with the #canceljao tagged in the post.

From there, the hashtag escalated, and fans who just opened X almost got a heart attack after seeing it trending.

Some fans are ready to unleash their inner keyboard warrior spirit to those who started the hashtag, however, after seeing that Jao himself started it they decided to join in on the fun by posting random images and videos with funny and witty words and the hashtag.

Jao assures his fans that the hashtag was only for fun and to better interact with them by quoting some posts with funny comebacks and the hashtag he created.

The #canceljao that started April 22 in the afternoon, has reached more than 3,700 posts.
