Abuevas and Tautuaas went on a heated exchange

by Bryan Gadingan

THE final buzzer may not have signaled the end for San Miguel Beermen and Magnolia Chicken Timplados in Game 2 of the Commissioner’s Cup Finals, as Abuevas and Tautuaas got into a verbal spat in the dugout.

In a video circulating online, Abueva and his wife, Sam, engaged in a verbal fight with the Tautuaas after attempting to confront them while the players and their families were leaving Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, in an Instagram Story post, Tautuaa’s wife Aida said that the incident began while she was on her way to the restroom and Abueva grinned at him.

“I had to walk past him to go to the restroom. He smirked at me, nodded his head up and down and said, “yeaaa” laughing,” wrote Tautuaa’s wife.

“I said ‘wtf is wrong with you’ and kept walking. He walked after me and literally got in my face,” Aida explained.

However, Abueva denied smirking at her and even claimed that Tautuaa’s wife was impolite when he was leaving the MOA Arena.

“Dumaan siya dito, hinihintay ako ng anak ko, and then sabi niya ‘what the f* are you smiling, Sino siya para ii-smile ko siya?” according to Abueva. “Bakit niya ako ginanun? Hinihintay ko asawa ko tapos gaganunin niya ako.”

Tautuaa’s wife, on the other hand, stressed that Abueva did not physically attack him, but that the Magnolia player’s behavior toward her when she went by concerned her. “To set the record straight Calvin did not physically attack me.”

In a different story, she stated that she did support Abueva’s reinstatement in the league, feeling that “everyone deserves second chances,” but that “he clearly did not change.”

“He is not mentally stable. When the PBA allowed him to play again, I was actually rooting for him and said that everyone deserves second chances. He clearly did not change,” she explained.

Abueva received an indefinite suspension in June 2019, which was removed 16 months later. This is due to a verbal argument with Ray Parks’ then-girlfriend and clotheslining former TNT import Terrence Jones.

Tautuaa’s wife also stated that there was “absolutely no reason” for Abueva to come to the San Miguel dugout side, given Magnolia’s locker room was on the opposite side of the venue.
