A coffee a day keeps the wrinkles away?

by Jericho Zafra

HOW can a sip of coffee make you look younger?

This was a question raised by Jessie Germar, who has been on graveyard duty for a business process outsourcing company for more than a year. According to Germar, she doesn’t think coffee helps her anymore, aside from the fact that it keeps her awake the whole working shift.

“I’ve been so stressed inside the workplace, I can feel myself aging like five years older than my age, and it’s stressing me even more,” said Germar.

According to Germar, she also struggles emotionally at work due to personal concerns, family, and friends. This was the reason she thought she was looking older than before.

But she need not fear anymore. A study by the National Library of Medicine said that coffee reduces aging among those who frequently drink it due to its natural compounds.

“Coffee helps protect human skin from photoaging, and polyphenols, including chlorogenic acids, may contribute to the decreased hyperpigmentation of pigmented spots,” lead author Yoichi Fukushima said in the study.

Polyphenols are reducing agents found in many plants, like coffee. Coffee is the largest source of polyphenols, which are responsible for supplying a significant amount of antioxidants to the body every day.

Coffee study

A separate study conducted by Oxford Academic’s Cerebral Cortex revealed that daily caffeine intake induces concentration among frequent drinkers. Oxfor had recruited Some 20 participants to represent a specific population, particularly those who drink coffee every day. After 10 days of monitoring, it was found that individuals who frequently drink coffee have increased their concentration.

The study also found an Improvement of the right medial lobe among the participants who drink coffee every day. The right medial lobe is responsible for human memory.

According to the study, coffee also provides vitamin B-3, an important nutrient that fights against skin cancer. Because of the degradation of an essential component called trigonelline, coffee can be an abundant source of vitamin B3 (also known as niacin). The trigonelline in coffee beans can be converted into niacin through the roasting process.

Niacin may be effective in preventing nonmelanoma skin cancers, as well as other skin growths, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. Niacin may also prevent other skin growths, it said.

Coffee Masks

You don’t just have to drink your coffee, bestie. You can also make DIY coffee face masks to make your skin healthier.

  • Blend olive oil and coffee grinds in the same proportions.
  • Apply in a circular motion all over your face and neck.
  • Keep the mask on for at least 15 and no longer an hour.
  • Finish by rinsing with some warm water. You should do this up to three times a week.
