5 Super Bowl movie ads that popped this year

by Ron Poblete

ADVERTISEMENTS during the Super Bowl half-time show are as much anticipated as the actual performance by the guest artists.

In recent years, many ads appearing during the Super Bowl have become iconic for their cinematography, humor, and use of special effects.

Ad agencies have put so much effort and money into placing their commercials during the half-time show. Why not? Yesterday, 113 million viewers tuned in during the game, the largest Super Bowl average audience since 2017. Rihanna’s half-time show had 118.7 million viewers.

For this article, here are the best trailers that stood out from yesterday’s Super Bowl ads.

The Flash

When Michael Keaton’s 90s Batman said in his trademark gruff voice, “Yea I’m Batman,” in the trailer, it gave me the goosies. It was also a wow moment to see Supergirl appear. With Ezra Miller given a chance to restore his public relations missteps, it made sure that the face donning the costume of the fastest name on the planet was familiar. It wasn’t long ago when Miller was one of a few bright spots in the Justice League saga.

Air

Any kid from the generation that grew up with the Nike “dunks” popularized by the great Michael Jordan would have peed a little in their pants when they saw the new trailer for this. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon reunite in this movie that tells the story of Nike and how a small, obscure shoe company bet the house on an unknown entity, Michael Jordan.

There is no mention of his fair participation in the movie, nor it showed a character that portrays him, but seeing him develop the most iconic shoe alone is a winner.

Transformers 7: Rise of the Beast

For some, The Transformers Beast Wars was a favorite. So to see them come alive with a much-improved back-to-basics treatment of the Transformers movies builds up the excitement. Fans felt that Michael Bay used too much creative freedom to redesign the characters when he was at the helm. Too much that they became unrecognizable. So the last two Transformers starting with Bumblebee, have gotten the legacy fans much more excited about the reboot.

Fast X

The end of the road begins for one of the longest movie franchises in recent memory. Dom Toreto, played by Vin Diesel, has to face his most challenging and deadliest opponent, Jason Momoa. Based on the trailer, much nostalgia will be built into the film.

The action looks magnificent, as you would expect from a fast-and-furious movie.

Guardian of the Galaxy Volume 3

As you would expect from Marvel, this particular Guardians movie will continue the next phase for all Marvel movies after “Ant Man” and the “Wasp Quantumania.” The latter introduces the next super villain Kang the Conqueror, and promises to take fans to the next exciting chapter of the hugely successful Marvel storyline.

Based on the trailer, you might need some tissue to wipe the tears for this one.
