1st One: ‘Dito’ is also about never giving up on your dreams

by Joanna Deala

IF ONE would hear the song “Dito” by rising P-pop boy group 1st One, it’s easy to tell that it’s about being there with someone, no matter what.

But for members of the group—Ace, Max, Alpha, J, Joker, and Jayson—there is more about “Dito” than being a love song.

The members talked about how they related to the song during the private music video launch of “Dito” in Quezon City. 1st One released the song’s official music video on Sunday, March 24, on their newly launched YouTube page.

In an interview with republicasia, Ace shared that there were many ways they could relate to the song, and for him, it’s about never giving up on his dream and career as a P-pop idol.

“Being [on] a boy group is not an easy road so talagang kailangan gugulan siya ng time, ng hard work, and with that, it takes time,” the group’s leader said.

Ace narrated that he had to sacrifice his time for his family to achieve his dream.

“But ayun nga, it’s the same concept kasi dito eh, like hindi siya dapat ma-take for granted yung love na ‘yon, you always have to be present, you always have to be ‘Dito’ no matter what happens,” he said.

Joker agreed with Ace and said, “Sino ba naman gustong alisan?”

The vocalist added, “Dito ka lang [para sa] pangarap mo, yung career na gusto mo, yung family mo, yung friends mo.”

‘Dito’ MV

1st One first released “Dito” in October 2023, along with an official performance video.

In the newly released music video, the boy group showcased not only their vocal and dance prowess but also their acting skills.

The members gave intense emotions that transcended into the screen as they expressed their pain and longing for someone. The video ended with the camera focusing on a white flower on a tombstone.

The fans, collectively known as For.One, praised the members’ acting skills and how each scene in the music video was well-crafted.

“Aside of course sa acting era ng boys natin, what I love about the MV is its aesthetics! Pinag-isipan talaga especially the shots,” a fan said on X (formerly Twitter).

Start of ‘new era’

The music video was dropped a few months later due to the group’s other schedules, including its first solo concert in December 2023, according to Ace.

However, he highlighted that this release marked only the start of 1st One’s “new era.”

Ace also revealed that there will be an upcoming extended play (EP) but he clarified that “Dito” won’t be part of it.

“’Yan yung prequel to the EP,” he said.

Jayson chimed in, “Kumbaga sa movie, yung ‘Dito’ trailer.”

In their new era, Alpha said that members will showcase their individual versatility. But even if they show a different side of 1st One, Ace assured that they won’t leave their roots behind.

“We’ll take all the things that we learned from how we started and how we continue to evolve, and show this new stage in our artistry and being 1st One,” he emphasized.

Fans can expect more content to be released on their YouTube channel, according to J.

“Doon na kami talaga pinaka maglalabas ng teasers, MV, also content and yung mga tour namin. Lahat ng video content namin ilalabas na namin doon sa [YouTube channel],” he said.

1st One officially made its debut in the music scene in July 2020 under Seoul-based talent management firm FirstOne Entertainment. Since its debut song “You Are The One (Ttak Maja Nuh),” it has made subsequent releases including “Oh,” “Shout Out,” “Turn Up,” and “Problem Child.”

The group was the first P-pop act to perform in the prestigious Seoul Music Awards in South Korea in 2020.
