THE state weather bureau PAGASA said on Thursday that there is a chance of either zero or one tropical cyclone entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility in February.
“Iyong mga nabubuo na bagyo tuwing Pebrero sa silangan ng Mindanao ay umaakyat nang bahagya at lumalapit or either maglalandfall sa may area ng Visayas or Mindanao,” said Benison Estareja, PAGASA weather specialist.
“Ikalawang scenario ay may nabubuo na bagyo sa may parteng Philippine Sea or Pacific Ocean, pumapasok ng Philippine Area of Responsibility pero lumilihis ng direksyon o nagrerecurve palayo ng bansa,” he added.
He said that the first tropical cyclone will be known locally as “Aghon.”
At present, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and the trough of the low pressure area are affecting the country.
Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with rain showers due to the trough of the LPA, based on PAGASA’s 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m. Thursday.
The Northeast Monsoon prevails in Luzon.
