SB19 open to collab with BINI again

by Joanna Deala

WILL there be another chance that powerhouse P-pop groups SB19 and BINI collaborate on a project?

Good news for their fans because SB19 said it will keep its doors open for a team-up with the Nation’s Girl Group.

SB19 member Felip, also known as Ken, said this to ABS-CBN News during their rehearsal for their “PAGTATAG! World Tour Asia.”

“Yes, definitely hindi naman po imposible. We’re open for everything. I think ‘pag pinagsama yung musicality ng dalawang grupo, there will be something bago sa pandinig at pananaw ng mga tao,” he said.

He added, “Wala pong impossible sa lahat… Let’s make it happen.”

And if it happens, it will not be the first time that SB19 and BINI join forces on a project.

In 2022, the two P-pop groups teamed-up for the first time for their rendition of “Kabataang Pinoy,” the theme song for “PBB Kumunity Season 10 – Teen Edition.” The pop track is a motivational song for the young generation to be brave and to keep chasing their dreams.

Produced by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo, “Kabataang Pinoy’s” music video shows the behind-the-scenes of the collaboration of SB19 and BINI, from their rehearsals to their live “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)” opening night performance.

At the end of the clip, SB19 and BINI members advised all young Filipinos to never give up and to continue believing in themselves because that is what will propel them to success.

Future of P-pop

Meanwhile, SB19 leader Pablo is hopeful that the P-pop industry will thrive in the future, with more groups being formed and making waves abroad.

“Honestly, excited po ako sa future ng P-pop. Sabi nga nila ‘strength in numbers,’ so sana maging mainstream na siya at mas suportahan pa siya kasi nakikita na talaga yung attention. Nakukuha na talaga yung attention ng ibang bansa pagdating sa P-pop,” he said.

SB19 has been cementing their name in the local and international music industry with their overseas shows and collabs with foreign artists like American singer-songwriter JVKE, Welsh singer Jamie Miller, K-pop star Sandara Park, and Japanese boy band &TEAM.

BINI, on the other hand, will participate in the Chinese survival show “Show It All,” where girl groups from different countries will come together for a “performance exchange.” BINI will represent the Philippines in the show, along with their fellow P-pop girl group G22.

The reality show has released a preview featuring the vocal prowess of the two Pinay girl groups.

The catchy songs and powerful dance performances of SB19 and BINI have caught the attention of foreign artists like K-pop idols. Many of these K-pop idols took on the viral “GENTO” and “Pantropiko” TikTok challenges of SB19 and BINI, respectively.

Upcoming concerts

SB19 and BINI are both gearing up for their respective upcoming concerts “PAGTATAG!” and “BINIverse.”

SB19–composed of Pablo, Stell, Josh, Ken and Justin–is set to hold the Dubai leg of their “PAGTATAG!” concert tour on April 24, followed by Japan on April 29 and Manila on May 18 and 19. The Manila leg, the last show of the world tour, will be held at the Araneta Coliseum.

Meanwhile, BINI–composed of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha and Sheena–will hold their first solo concert at the New Frontier Theater from June 28 to 30.
