Yasmien Kurdi gets a follow from Westlife’s Mark Feehily after concert IG story

by Izel Abanilla

KAPUSO actress Yasmien Kurdi has got to be the luckiest fan to date.

After watching the sold-out first night show of iconic ‘90s Irish boy band Westlife on Monday, Kurdi posted snippets of the event in her Instagram stories and got the best surprise ever.

In her stories, she tagged the members of the group: Shane Failan, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne and Mark Feehily.

To her surprise, Feehily reposted her story which was also seen by Byrne.

It didn’t stop there. What happened next was beyond Kurdi’s imagination.

Feehily followed her Instagram account, which makes her one of 516 people from all over the world that the Westlife vocalist now follows.

She was, as expected, ecstatic.

“OMG! Markus ‘Mark’ Michael Patrick Feehily reposted my story and followed me back!” she wrote.

She could not believe it, she said.

“Hala totoo ba? Nananaginip yata ako? You made my day! Hello Nicky! (naka seen siya sa stories ko),” she added.

As if by a stroke of fate, Kurdi had another entry for the boy band. Back in 2006, Kurdi already had a fangirl moment with the Irish boy band.

She met the members of the group at that time and had the opportunity to have photos with them. She reposted the photos on her Instagram stories.

Westlife in Manila

Westlife is in the country for its sold-out two-night “The Wild Dreams Tour” concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

The group was only supposed to perform for one night. But upon announcement of the initial tour date, tickets for the show quickly sold-out. This prompted the organizers to add another concert night.

Westlife was one of two 90s boy bands to perform in the country on February 20. The other was the Backstreet Boys.

The date went down in history as the night when two of the most famous boy bands of all time brought back the mega ‘90s nostalgia feels to Filipino fans who love their music.

Westlife is among the boy bands that rose to fame in the late ‘90s. The group popularized the hits “If I Let You Go,” “Swear it Again,” “Uptown Girl,” “I Lay My Love on You,” and many others.

Westlife was originally a five-member group, but Brian McFadden quit at the height of their popularity. This came just months before his marriage to British singer Kerry Katona, a member of another ‘90s female act, Atomic Kitten ended.
