ATTENTION Gen Zs in the south wanting to be doctors and engineers!
The University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao said that they would be opening their medical school in 2025.
It marks as the first state university that would offer a Doctor of Medicine program in Davao City.
According to the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings, UP ranked in the 401–450 bracket in the life sciences and medicine area. It bases its ranking per subject.
UP Mindanao said that aside from the medicine program, they would also open its doors for civil engineering, entrepreneurship, and two new Master of Science degrees: Quantitative Methods & Modelling, and Biology.
According to the university, the MS in Quantitative Methods & Modelling will be meant to upgrade the skills of applied mathematics and computer science graduates.
On the other hand, MS Biology will have four specialty tracks that were adopted from the Institute of Biology in UP Diliman.
UP Mindanao stressed that the Associate in Entrepreneurship and MS Biology programs would be offered starting Academic Year 2024-2025.
The university said that they aim to increase the number of students from the present 1,400 to 5,000 by 2029.
