Typhoon Aghon: 2 Luzon areas still in Signal no. 2

TYPHOON Aghon sustained its intensity with signal no. 2 hoisted in parts of Isabela and Aurora as it moves northeastward over the Philippine Sea. 

The typhoon was last spotted over the coastal waters of Casiguran, Aurora, and is moving northeastward at 10 km per hour while carrying sustained winds of 140 kph up to 170 kph. 

Following the destruction brought about by Typhoon Aghon, the Lucena City government declared a state of calamity on Monday, according to its Public Information Office. 

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that there were 19,373 people affected as of May 27. This includes seven others who were reportedly injured. 

The NDRRMC also reported that 8,465 families in 158 barangays in Luzon and Visayas have been affected, with the greatest number of affected individuals coming from the Bicol Region, at 10,349 individuals. Meanwhile, there are 5,970 affected individuals from MIMAROPA while 2,026 of them are in Eastern Visayas. 

A situational report said there were 5,343 people tagged as displaced, with 2,162 of them being temporarily sheltered in evacuation centers and 3,181 of them staying outside evacuation centers. 

The NDRRMC said that they have yet to receive reports of dead or missing persons or any data of Typhoon Aghon’s destruction on agriculture and infrastructure during the reporting period.
