Tricia Robredo feeling ‘better’ after getting sick, learning the importance of rest

by Izel Abanilla

After Tricia Robredo stressed the importance of taking a break, former Vice President Leni Robredo said her daughter is now feeling better from her illness.

In a Facebook post, the former presidential contender provided an update about the condition of Tricia, who earlier shared that her physical health took a turn for the worse because of her busy schedule.

The ex-VP shared that Tricia became so weak that she could not even eat, drink, or move. This happened during one of the few times that the family was not together during the Holy Week, she said.

“Tricia got sick, which got us all worried. She was alone, could not tolerate anything (even water) and was too weak to even go to the bathroom,” she said in her post.

She then thanked her youngest daughter Jill who traveled from New York to Boston to check on her older sister.

“Thank you to Jill who took the train from New York to Boston to visit her this weekend. Tricia is much better and they were already able to celebrate Easter Mass together. They sent us this pic which they took at sunset along the banks of Charles River. Aika is joining me in a few days for the last two legs of our pilgrimage,” she said.

The former Vice President has been in Jerusalem the past few days visiting religious sites.

Rest is important

Over the weekend, the 28-year-old Tricia called for the need for work-life balance after experiencing the consequences of pushing her body to the limit.

In a social media post, the young doctor talked about the “scariest” experience she had while living alone.

“My physical health took a beating for it this week, and it was by far the scariest thing I’ve had to deal with since living alone. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t even drink. I was very weak,” she said.

This made her realize the importance of taking a break.

“I used to think that self-care was abused and overused. It had to come to this for me to realize that it’s not always the case,” she said.

She finished by reminding people that overworking should not be glorified and that the consequences if the body is not given rest can be costly.
