Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ highest-grossing tour ever — Guinness World Records

by Joanna Deala

2023 has not yet ended, and so are the achievements Taylor Swift has been reaching this year.

Swift, who was recently named as Time magazine’s Person of the Year, continues to soar to greater heights as her record-breaking “Eras Tour” officially became the highest-grossing music tour, announced Guinness World Records.

On December 12, a day before the American singer-songwriter celebrated her 34th birthday, Guinness reported that the “Eras Tour” became the first concert tour to surpass $1 billion in revenue.

Citing data from Pollstar, Guinness said that the headline-making tour raked in $1.04 billion or £840 million to date.

The “Eras Tour” surpassed the previous record set by British singer Elton John’s five-year farewell tour which ended in July 2023. According to Billboard, the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour grossed $939 million and sold six million tickets.

Swift’s sixth concert tour also outsold the next two highest-grossing tours – Beyoncé’s “Renaissance World Tour” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Springsteen and E Street Band 2023 Tour.”

Pollstar reported that Queen Bey’s “Renaissance World Tour” amassed $580 million in 56 shows, while Springsteen’s tour grossed $379.5 million.

The “Eras Tour,” which Swift has described as a journey through her all musical eras, wrapped up its 2023 leg in Brazil in November.

Meanwhile, the singer-songwriter couldn’t help but “feel so proud and moved” following the success of her shows this year.

“I’m so grateful to my touring family, my band, crew and dancers for everything they put into this show all year,” said Swift on X (formerly Twitter).

She continued, “To the people who came to see it, you are what made those stadiums feel so alive and electric and unforgettable for me.”

The 2024 leg of the “Eras Tour” will commence in February with four shows in Tokyo, Japan. Swift will then perform in Australia and Singapore before heading to Europe in May.

‘Eras Tour’ extended version

Not all Swifties would be able to attend the “Eras Tour” given that Swift would only perform in several locations. But the singer-songwriter made sure to bring more of her fans to the tour even through the big screen.

She made a film version of her three-hour concert, which was screened in cinemas worldwide, including in the Philippines.

She recently announced that there will be an extended version of the film, which will include three additional songs: “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer,” and “Long Live.”

This will be available for rent in the United States and Canada. More countries will be announced today, December 13, so keep yourselves posted, Swifties!
