SB19 songs that went viral

by Izel Abanilla

With a string of chart-topping hits, a successful penetration into the international scene, and a huge legion of fans, the best is surely yet to come for P-pop sensation SB19.

Having debuted only in 2018, the group composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin is credited with trailblazing the P-pop, or Pinoy pop, in the country. Their success, however, wasn’t just the work of luck; they trained hard to master their performance.

Here are some of the multi-awarded group’s biggest hits:

  1. Tilaluha

Released in 2018, Tilaluha is the group’s first song ever released and is an emotional ballad. It’s a song about breakups and unrequited love, written by the group’s leader, Pablo. It was released as the band’s debut song to showcase their vocal prowess.

  1. Alab

Written by Pablo together with Korean composer Han Tae Soo, Alab was released in 2019 as the third single off their debut album Get in the zone. It won song of the year in 2020 at the RAWR Awards as well as Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year during the 2021 MYX Music Video Awards.

  1. Mapa

Also written by Pablo, Mapa was co-produced by the group with OPM icon Jay Durias of South Border. Released as a tribute to parents, it placed fifth on Google’s most searched song list of the year in 2021.

  1. WYAT (Where You At)

WYAT, or Where You At, is a viral disco pop song that has over 4.5 million views on YouTube.

It won P-pop Song of the Year at the 4th National Village Pipol Awards and the 8th Wish Music Awards. They even performed the song on the American program Fox 5, which made Filipinos even more proud.

  1. Gento

Anyone on TikTok has surely watched various versions of SB19’s latest hit, Gento. Shortly after the release of the song, it made its debut on the World Digital Song Sales chart, earning the eighth spot and granting their group’s first Top 10 placement.

Currently, its music video has had over 13 million views since its release over a month ago.
