SB19 Dubai concert cancelled

by Gaby Agbulos

FOLLOWING their announcement last November 21st, 1Z Entertainment – SB19’s company and management – has canceled their concert in Dubai, originally meant to be held on November 24 at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium.

“We deeply apologize to everyone inconvenienced by this cancellation. Your continuous patience and understanding are greatly appreciated,” The post from 1Z Entertainment read.

“Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin will continue to work hard and prepare for their future performances with positivity and gratitude knowing that they have your unwavering support and trust.”

1Z Entertainment also reassured fans who’d already bought tickets that they could message Black Star Entertainment Production for refunds or any other concerns they may have.

This show was originally meant to be a part of the group’s Pagtatag! World Tour. Before this, the group also canceled their shows in Bangkok and Singapore. For the cancellation of their Singapore show, they stated that it was due to unforeseen circumstances.

No such update has been given regarding their concert to be held in Japan, but fans have since shown virtually nothing but support since this announcement, reassuring the group that they should take all the time they need, just as long as they come back together.

The Pagtatag! World Tour thus far

SB19’s world tour started last June 24, 2023, as a means of supporting the release of their second EP entitled Pagtatag!

The tour started in the Philippines, as well as in different parts of the United States and Canada.

Since the start of the tour, the response has been extremely positive, with critics raving about their performances and a number of their shows selling out completely.

Even in shows that didn’t sell out, fans reported that the empty chairs weren’t even noticeable due to the high energy and loud cheers coming from the crowd – so loud that fans even felt as if the walls were vibrating throughout the show.

Following the success of these shows, the group then announced that they would be performing in different parts of Asia as well, namely Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, and Japan. Sadly, since then, three out of four of these shows have been canceled.

Fan frustrations

Since the launch of the tour, while fans have shown much love and support for the group, some complaints have surfaced regarding the ticket-buying process for the concerts.

One fan who attended the Chicago show, for example, said: “I found the promotion lacking, and the ticket-buying experience was highly frustrating. If I didn’t love them so much, I would have said screw this.”

They explained that it took them weeks before they received their tickets, with little to no communication in between the waiting time. They also added that advanced ticket buyers weren’t able to choose their seats, and had to rely on pure luck that they’d get good ones.

“I spent too much time reaching out for information about ticket status or soundcheck; delays happen, but if it’s going to be lengthy, just communicate,” they added.

Other fans also shared the same sentiments regarding the lack of promotion for the tour but noted that despite this, their seats still filled out rather quickly.
