Rommel Padilla clears fake news on KathNiel breakup

by Gaby Agbulos

RECENTLY, a post regarding a fake statement made by Rommel Padilla, the father of Daniel Padilla, started circulating on social media.

The post in question was a screenshot of a fake tweet from Padilla, which read: “Puro kayo panghuhusga kay Daniel na cheater, akala niyo naman ang lilinis niyo! Ikaw Kathryn, kung hindi dahil kay Daniel wala ka sa kinatatayuan  mo ngayon! Alam mong gwapo yung anak ko, dapat expected mo na hindi lang ikaw ang babae niyan. Kung talagang mahal mo yung anak ko, magtitiis ka at dapat hindi big deal sa’yo ang mga babae niya, kasi at the end of the day sa’yo pa rin naman uuwi yan. Ang importante diyan ay ikaw lang ang pinakamahal niya.”

In a statement he made on Facebook last Tuesday, April 16th, addressing the issue, Padilla told people not to believe in the post, and asked people not to share it, as there would be legal consequences in doing so.

“Paalala: May pananagutan po sa batas ang pagpapakalat nito,” he wrote.

Netizens urged Padilla to teach those who made the post a lesson, and that it would be best to take legal action against them or anyone who would be sharing it moving forward. His brother, Senator Robin Padilla, was also quick to support him.

In the past, Padilla has shown much love for his relationship with ex-girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo. He’s even said on numerous occasions that he likes Bernardo with Daniel Padilla.

Given his show of support for their relationship, many netizens stated in the comments that upon seeing the post, they already knew that it was fake.

“Nung unang beses akong tinanong tungkol diyan, matagal na, Princess And I pa, nag-uumpisa pa lang sila, magaan nga ang loob ko sa batang ‘yan,” he’d said in an interview in 2014.

This serves as a reminder to people to be wary of the things they see online, particularly if it’s news about someone that’s out-of-character with what they’ve been like thus far.
