QCPD says sorry for leaked Ronaldo Valdez video

by Carl Santos

THE Quezon City Police District on Monday apologized after a video showing the body of late actor Ronaldo Valdez circulated on social media.

Janno Gibbs and his family demanded a public apology for the leak of the police-taken video on the day Valdez was found unresponsive in his room on December 17, 2023, and QCPD Director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan responded with the statement.

‘’Tayo ay taos-pusong humihingi ng paumanhin sa lahat ng pamilya ng Gibbs ganun din sa kanilang mga kaibigan dahil sa sabihin na natin na sakit na naidulot noong paglabas ng video sa iba’t-ibang social media platforms kung saan involved ang isang pulis sa pagkuha ng video,’’ Maranan said.

Following the video leak, at least five QCPD personnel were removed from their positions and charged with neglect of duty, grave irregularity in the performance of duty, and grave misconduct.

In accordance with the command responsibility doctrine, three police officers were also the subject of administrative charges.

Charges will also be brought against four people who the QCPD identified as the first to upload the video on social media.

“Ganito na ba kababa, ka-desperado ang mga vloggers for likes and views. At the expense of our lives, my father’s reputation, my family, ganon na ba talaga ka-desperado?” Gibbs said at a press conference on Monday.

‘’Shame on you or better yet, f_ck you. I think that’s the better statement.’’
