Palace suspends work on June 17 for Eid’l Adha

by Kiko Cueto

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared June 17, 2024 as a regular holiday.

This is in observance of Eid’l Adha, one of the two major Muslim holidays.

The said declaration was made via a Proclamation No. 579, and was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin on June 4.

The date of this year’s Eid’l Adha was chosen based on the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos following the Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.

The Muslim festival is traditionally being celebrated as part of the pilgrimage to Islam’s holiest city Mecca, acts of charity, and a feast.

Eid’l Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, is the other great feast of Islam.
