BUREAU of Immigration officers recently prevented a woman from traveling abroad for presenting a passport that contained her cousin’s personal information.

The woman, whose name was withheld due to local trafficking laws, was supposed to leave the country on September 17 to work as a housemaid in Saudi Arabia.

During the initial inspection, she presented a passport showing that she was 30 years old.

However, immigration officers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 found numerous inconsistencies and referred her for further inspection.

The woman then revealed that she assumed her cousin’s identity and admitted her real name and age.

She said that she was born in 2003, making her only 20 years old.

”After determining that she had presented a fraudulently acquired passport, she was referred to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for further investigation. Her passport was likewise forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs for appropriate action,” the BI said.
